Radnor Rooms is the perfect place for a small, lowkey wedding in Bristol

Rita & Michael were the most chilled out couple I’ve met, and they wanted a wedding that reflected that.

Having friends and family all around the world meant they wanted to prioritise spending their wedding enjoying company with their wedding party, some of whom they hadn’t seen for a decade or so.

Fortunately they had Maven Visuals Wedding Films along to document it all in a wedding film, so we could share the best wedding moments with you.

Here are our 5 favourite moments from their wedding film that show that The Radnor Rooms is the ideal place to have a small Bristol city wedding without having to sacrifice a beautiful looking venue.

Moment 1/5: When we saw how chilled out everyone was.

Me, the wedding videographer at Rita’s bridal prep: “So, do you have a special wedding car to pick you up? and what time? Just so I can prepare!”

Rita: “No.. I don’t have a car, we’ll just head over whenever”

Paul, the wedding photographer: “Cool! So if you don’t have a special car how are you getting there?”

Rita: “I dunno… just get an uber I guess.”

This was the conversation that reassured me I was going to be spending the day with my kind of people.

No worries, no stress. A very stoic and optimistic “we’ll find a way” style of strategy… and that theme continued throughout the day.

Moment 2/5: When the Bride & Groom did a first look (and the bride nearly forgot it was her wedding)

Rita & Michael were, as I’ve mentioned, super laid-back and wanted their wedding to be as chill as possible.

So even though in a traditional wedding the groom might avoid seeing the bride until she walks down the aisle, Rita & Michael decided they wanted to meet up beforehand and walk down the aisle together as a team.

I arrived at The Radnor Rooms a few minutes before the bride, so I could chat to Michael, make sure he was happy with everything and see if he needed any help with stuff.

My plan was to then meet the Bride at the bottom, and make sure the videography camera & the wedding photographer were ready so we could capture the moment they met.

It was all going well, until Rita thought of a question that she knew Michael would have the answer to… and subconsciously walked towards the door he was hiding behind to ask him… totally forgetting they were about to see each other in wedding outfits for the very first time.

We all laughed, and then got the money shots.

Moment 3/5: The entire end of ceremony walk out sequence & confetti.

If you’ve read a few of these, you’ll notice confetti comes up a lot as my favourite moment.

That’s because when it’s done well… It can be some of the most powerful wedding photographs & video clips of the day.

However, it’s unfortunately not always done well… so when I get a great confetti line like Rita & Michael had, I never take it for granted.

The Radnor Rooms is a small venue, designed to accommodate weddings that want to keep the guests numbers nice and intimate. And whilst Rita & Michael did keep it to just their closest family and friends… it turns out they’re extremely popular… and it’s not hard to see why.

This meant although it was a squeeze, the ultimate result was an extremely high energy aisle walk with lots of cheering and whooping - and an absolutely stunning confetti walk.

Moment 4/5: When the Bride made a big unexpected announcement…

Yeah, you already guessed “Baby announcement” didn’t you…

It makes it sound obvious when you prefix it by saying “a big unexpected announcement”, but you have to remember that none of the guests had any idea that the bride & groom had anything to announce besides their wedding vows… So once Rita got on the mic and told everyone there was an eruption of celebrations and cheers that were probably heard as far as Exeter.

In case you're wondering, the beautiful baby girl “Cervetto'' was born successfully and healthily in approximately the correct time frame post-wedding, and now roams the world we live in…

The idea that this baby will one day grow up and watch the wedding video of her pregnant mother making the announcement of her existence is kind of crazy to think about isn’t it.

How crazy it is that one day Rita’s granddaughter will one day watch it too!

Moment 5/5: When there was a surprise Salsa Class for the first dance.

Have you ever been a guest to a wedding, and the bride or groom has asked you to join them on the dance floor but you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing so you just pretend not to see them and sneak off to the bar? Well me too.

Fortunately for people like you & me, Rita & Michael thought about this in advance… and hired a legitimate Salsa pro to come in and teach everyone a basic dance so that nobody had an excuse not to join in.

I suspect it was actually Rita’s side of the family being generous to us ignorant English folks and mixing some good proper culture into our antiquated Bristolian manner… because all of Rita’s side of the family were already pros!

It was a great laugh, and an absolutely genius way to make sure everyone had a memorable time.

So, feel free to jump in the conversation!

Which one of these moments were your favourite? Have any made you want to plan your wedding differently?
